via Daily Prompt: Loop
You just can’t always see it coming. It calls for a quick mind and everlasting patience. Something that is meant to be a shortcut can be anything but a shortcut.
As I was heading home from a visit with a friend in part of Phoenix that I had never been to, I was to learn the mysteries of Loop 101 and 202. Those shortcuts around a city in the desert of 3 million folks. Mind you I have been in other places with loops and I seem to never know where I am going. By the way, I normally don’t get lost except when a loop is involved. Oh, and Garmin isn’t helpful either. But I stray from a saga!
You know how big cities have different highway systems other than the interstate highway system. Well, if you aren’t familiar with these road and where they go , boy can you get lost. When lost there is no guarantee that people in the area know other parts of their town either! In the West things are spread out forever! You know, big wide open spaces, that are now cluttered with a thousand little suburbs. Can you see where I am going!
Phoenix at that time was both repaving I-10 and constructing Loop 101 and 202. My exist home was now blocked. As I drove from Thunderbird Drive to I-10 in the dark, suddenly we were ramped off to another road! And I got off on the wrong road, and so the never ending loops began. Bad directions to no directions sent me to having to refill my gas tank 2 times just to get home. When I realized that I kept seeing the same buildings repeatedly, I was screaming in my car! Those goddamn Loops!
